Broadcast Editorial
A WordPress theme for radio shows and podcasts that sounds like your show.
An episode-first site for shows, podcasts, and broadcast blogs. Post the episode, drop in the playlist, and the site takes care of the rest.
Built and used every week on a community radio program that's been on the air for over three decades. Every feature exists because a real show needed it.
One-time purchase. Runs on the free GeneratePress theme. No page builder required.
Key Features
-
Episode Hero on the Homepage
Your two newest episodes lead the front page as big image cards, with a one-click link to the full back catalog.
-
Automatic Episode Numbering
Save a post in your episode category and the theme adds "Program 1366" (or "Episode 42", your choice of word) to the title, then counts up for next week.
-
Player & Playlist Block
One click inserts a boxed audio player, a playlist header, and a tracklist area, so every episode post looks the same without rebuilding it by hand.
-
Switchable Category Feeds
Pick up to four categories and visitors flip between them with pill buttons right on the homepage. No page reloads.
-
Per-Category Post Footers
Standing notes at the bottom of posts by category, like air times, archive policies, or a series disclaimer. Set it once; it shows on every matching post.
-
Series Hub for Serialized Stories
Running a multi-part story or feature? A dedicated page template lists every part oldest-first, with its own menu for companion pages.
-
Staff & History Page
An intro, a featured history post, and up to four staff bios with photos, all filled in from the settings page.
-
Contact Page That Dodges Spam Bots
An "Email Me" button whose address never sits in the page as plain text, plus links to every channel you use.
-
Footer Channels & Photo Lightbox
RSS, Bluesky, email, Facebook, Instagram, and Discord icons that hide when left blank, a built-in photo lightbox, and video embeds that resize to fit.
-
One Settings Page, No Code
Logos, links, categories, headings, button text, footers, and staff bios all live on a single Broadcast Settings page in your dashboard.

- Stations that want a separate site for each program
Questions
What is a child theme, and why do I need GeneratePress?
A child theme sits on top of a parent theme and changes how it looks and works. Broadcast Editorial uses GeneratePress, a free, fast, and widely used WordPress theme, as its foundation. Install GeneratePress from the WordPress theme directory, then upload Broadcast Editorial and activate it. The setup guide walks through it.
Do I have to be a radio show to use it?
No. The episode features work for any show-based site, podcasts included, and you can rename "Program" to "Episode" or anything else. If you don't post episodes, the homepage simply shows your latest posts.
Will it work with the posts and categories I already have?
Yes. You tell the theme which categories to use for episodes, homepage feeds, and post footers by typing their slugs into Broadcast Settings. Nothing gets moved or renamed.
Can I see it running on a real site first?
Yes. rwsradio.com runs Broadcast Editorial and is updated every week. Older episodes there have empty audio players on purpose: that show removes its audio after 14 days.
What if it isn't right for me?
Email us within 14 days of purchase and we'll make it right.
Is it licensed under the GPL?
Yes. Like WordPress itself, Broadcast Editorial is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later.
